You agreed a deal with someone you met online. Neither of you wants to go first. A deal room is a private chat where a DealsFixers moderator holds the money, watches the handover, and pays the seller only once the buyer confirms.

What a deal room is

Most online deals are not marketplace listings. They start in a Telegram group, a Discord server, an Instagram DM or a forum thread: someone has an account to sell, a service to offer, a licence to transfer. You agree a price in five minutes. Then comes the awkward part — who sends first.

A deal room is that conversation, moved somewhere neutral. One of you opens it, the other joins with an 8-character code, and a human moderator from our side steps in. The buyer sends USDT to our address, not to the seller — the deal amount plus our fee, shown as one total. The seller delivers in the room, where it is on the record. The buyer confirms, and the moderator releases the agreed amount to the seller.

Nobody has to trust anybody. The only thing either of you has to trust is that the money is somewhere neither of you controls until the deal is actually done.

Both sides are named — one of them needs an account
Opening a room takes an account: an email, a password and a mobile number, about a minute, no cost. Joining one takes an invite code and three answers — your name, your mobile number and your email — and no password at all. What matters is the same either way: a moderator can only settle an argument between two people who can be identified, and a dispute needs someone to hold to it. Signing up afterwards keeps the room you are already in, on whatever device you sign in from next.

Deals struck in chat

Telegram, Discord, Instagram, X, forums. You found each other in a group, and neither of you has a reputation the other can check.

Social account transfers

The classic go-first problem: hand over the login and hope, or pay and hope. Do the handover in the room, prove access, then release.

Freelance work off-platform

A client and a freelancer who already agreed scope and price, without a marketplace between them. The money is locked while the work happens.

Software, source code and licences

Scripts, bots, tools, keys, smart contracts. Deliver into the room so what was handed over is documented, not remembered differently later.

Domains and digital assets

Anything where the transfer takes a few steps and the buyer wants to see it land before the seller is paid.

Gaming and in-app items

Accounts, items and currency, where the platform they live on offers you no protection at all.

What cannot go through a room: stolen or hacked accounts, credentials obtained without the owner's consent, malware, and anything illegal where either party is. Those are refused and the accounts involved are suspended — see the terms.

How a room runs

Seven steps, from opening the room to the seller being paid.

  1. Open the room
    Title, a description of what is being exchanged, the amount, and whether you are the buyer or the seller. Minimum deal is $10. Start one here — with a free account, which takes about a minute if you do not have one yet.
  2. Send the other party the code
    You get an 8-character invite code and a room number. Send the code to the other party directly. They enter it on the deal rooms page, give their name, mobile number and email, and take the opposite role to yours — no account, no password, nothing to sign up for first. The code waits for them until they do.
  3. A moderator picks it up
    As soon as both seats are filled, your chat opens and the room starts calling — one moderator at a time, widening until someone accepts. Talk to each other while you wait, but send nothing and hand nothing over until one has joined: until then nobody is watching. They join as "Moderator" and the escrow starts.
  4. The buyer pays in USDT
    The room shows our address, a QR code for TRC-20, ERC-20 or BEP-20, and the exact total to send — the deal amount plus the platform fee. The buyer sends that total from their own wallet and marks it paid. Marking it paid is a claim, not a fact: the moderator then finds that amount on-chain and confirms it, and until that confirmation the seller literally cannot mark the deal delivered.
  5. The seller delivers, in the room
    Once the moderator has confirmed the payment — never before — the seller hands over the files, credentials, proof of transfer, screenshots, attached to the room so there is a record. The seller marks the deal delivered and the buyer is notified.
  6. The buyer approves
    The buyer checks that what arrived is what was agreed and approves the release. If it is not, they open a dispute instead and a human decides.
  7. The moderator pays the seller
    The seller enters their USDT payout address and network in the room — a checked field, not a chat message — and the moderator sends them the full deal amount — the fee was already covered by the buyer's total. The room closes as completed. The full mechanics are on how it works.

The invite code

Every room issues one 8-character code, something like 7F3A9C2E. It is the key to the one empty seat in that room: the first person to enter it becomes the counterparty and takes whichever role you did not. After that the code is spent — the room stops accepting parties.

  • Send it privately, to the person you actually agreed the deal with.
  • Do not post it in a group, a comment, a public listing or a screenshot. Anyone holding it can take the seat.
  • You cannot join your own room — the two seats are always two different sessions.
  • If the wrong person joins, cancel the room before any money moves and open a new one.

The moderator

The moderator is the difference between a deal room and a group chat. They are a person, not a bot. You can talk from the moment both of you are in, but nothing is protected until one of them has accepted the room.

  • They are anonymous. Both parties see “Moderator” and nothing else — no name, no profile. Harder to pressure, harder to impersonate.
  • They verify the payment themselves. A buyer saying they sent it is not enough; the moderator checks the transaction on-chain, and the seller is refused the Mark-as-delivered button until they have.
  • They act on the buyer's approval. The release is a deliberate step by a human after the buyer has confirmed delivery — nothing pays out on a timer.
  • They cannot referee their own deal. A moderator who is a party to a room is blocked from taking it, releasing it or resolving its dispute. Another one takes it instead.
  • They decide disputes. Either party can freeze the deal after payment; the moderator or an uninvolved administrator reads the room and rules, with the reason written into the chat. See safety.

What it costs

One fee per completed deal, and in a room it is added on top of the deal amount: the buyer sends the amount plus the fee, and the seller receives the full amount agreed. Opening a room, joining one, chatting, attaching files and opening a dispute are all free.

Below $100 the fee is a flat $10, so a moderated room earns its keep on amounts where losing the money would actually hurt. This is the arrangement for every room opened on or after 3 September 2026; a room opened before then keeps the older one, where the buyer sent the deal amount and the fee came out of the seller's payout. Either way the room shows both figures before anybody pays. Marketplace orders work like the older arrangement — every tier, both models and withdrawal fees are on the fees page.

Questions people ask before their first room

Only the person who opens the room. Whoever is invited joins with the code and three answers — name, mobile number, email — and no password. Rooms once opened on a throwaway session where neither side had to say who they were; that is what was retired, not the invite itself, because a deal where nobody can name the other party is a deal a moderator cannot fairly settle. An account is still worth having — it is also the marketplace, a wallet, saved gigs and direct messages — and creating one later keeps every room you are already in, along with the invite code you were sent.
